«CANTISTORIA»
Sunday, March 8
THEATRE OF THE NO
THEATRE OF THE NO, presents the musical performance “CANTISTORIA”, a unique experience that seamlessly blends words and melody in a journey through the sounds and stories of the West and the East. The ensemble embraces diverse folk traditions while exploring timeless, universal human themes, bringing the vibrancy of musical storytelling to life. The performance will take place on Sunday, March 8 at 20:30.
Cantistoria, whose name comes from cantus (song) and the Greek word history, was founded in 2018. Their name refers to the tradition of singing storytellers, found across Europe and Asia. Like the traveling performers of the past, they focus on song, music, and narrative, creating an atmosphere where stories come alive through sound.
Their repertoire explores everyday life, love, exile, the consequences of war, and the beauty of nature. Audiences are taken on an imaginative journey from medieval and Renaissance Europe to America, moving from cantatas and folk ballads to blues, in a singular musical experience where song, music, and storytelling merge into one.
Cantistoria have performed in music venues and cultural spaces in Patras and appeared at the Patras International Festival 2019 as a support band for Encardia. Their travels in Apulia inspired a deeper engagement with the traditions of Greek-speaking Southern Italy. They have also participated in festivals such as TEDx Patras (2022), Malvasia, Melijazz, The Mechanism, Epidaurus Vivoma, Medieval Festival of Andravida, and Urban Fest Patras 2025, and collaborated in 2025 with the professional dance school Dansarte in Patras.
The performance features the dance duo Ballo del Mare, consisting of Konstantina Kalkani and Gianna Hamaleli.
