Dance workshops that take us on a journey across Mediterranean cultures
Theatre of the NO invites you to a unique experience of movement and expression through a series of original dance workshops. From the ecstatic Tarantella of Southern Italy to Greek traditional dances and Western European folk patterns, each seminar offers an opportunity to connect with your body, music, and tradition in a contemporary, experiential way.
The workshops take place over five consecutive Sundays, from March 1 to March 29, and are open to everyone, regardless of age or prior experience. Join us on a cultural journey that connects history, music, and movement and discover the joy of dance through both personal expression and collective experience.
Dances of Southern Italy – Tarantella Pizzica Pizzica

What happens when the “spider” bites you?
Here… you simply dance!
An immersive journey into the culture of the Greek-speaking communities of Southern Italy through the ecstatic Tarantella Pizzica Pizzica. Through live music, songs, stories, and the dance tradition of Encardia, participants will discover the deep cultural connection between Greece and the other side of the Ionian Sea.

Traditional Dances of Western Europe
Portugal & France – Repasseado, Danse de l’Ours, Tordion
Sunday, March 8, 2026 | 12:00 – 14:00
An experiential journey into Western Europe through traditional dances rich in rhythm, history, and symbolism.
From Portugal, we will explore Repasseado, a dynamic dance based on cooperation, role exchange, and the joy of collective movement. From France, we will discover Danse de l’Ours, an archaic and expressive dance featuring elements of imitation and symbolism, as well as the elegant Renaissance dance Tordion, known for its lively rhythm and playful character.
Accompanied by Cantistoria, we will work on fundamental steps, rhythms, and formations, exploring the relationship between body, music, and space combining technique, expression, and historical context.

Greek Traditional Dances – A Different Approach

Learn core Greek dances through three fundamental movement patterns!
A journey from Smyrna and the Aegean to Thrace and the Peloponnese, discovering step-by-step the main traditional dance families, their costumes, and their origins.
Dances included:
- Central Greece: Trata, Syrtos
- Peloponnese: Kalamatianos Syrtos, Tsamiko
- Epirus & Thessaly: Zagorisio, Tsamiko
- Aegean Islands: Ballos, Sousta
- Macedonia: Macedonian Syrtos, Enteka
- Thrace: Hasapiko, Zonaradikos
- Asia Minor: Karsilamas, Hasaposerviko

Dances of Southern Italy – Tammurriata
Sunday, March 22, 2026 | 12:00 – 14:00
Experience the vibrant living tradition of Southern Italy through Tammurriata a dance deeply connected to the land, celebration, and ritual.
Participants will learn fundamental steps, figures, and improvisational elements. Grounded and expressive, Tammurriata invites us to connect with rhythm, body, and emotion.

“Shall We Groove?”

Created during the Dance Residencies at Technopolis City of Athens (Summer 2025), supported by S.E.XO.XO., Shall We Groove? returns, inviting you to become part of the journey.
Starting from the Tarantella and drawing tools from contemporary dance, the Duende Dance Company will guide participants step by step toward discovering their own personal expression in a unique experience of freedom and creativity.
Open to all, regardless of experience.
