Theatre of the NO, presents a special tribute to Nina Simone, one of the most significant and influential voices in 20th-century music.
On Saturday, June 6 at 21:30, the audience is invited to experience an intimate musical journey, where the performances convey the intensity, political fire, and profound artistic sensitivity of Simone. The concert features an exceptional quartet, with the captivating vocals of Tali Atzmon and the acclaimed saxophonist and composer Gilad Atzmon. With a fresh jazz approach, the program highlights both the classic hits and lesser-known gems from Simone’s repertoire.
About Nina Simone (1933–2003) Nina Simone was a pianist, singer, and composer, renowned for her unique ability to blend jazz, blues, soul, and classical music. Her voice was more than art, it was a tool for social awakening, with songs that spoke of human rights, equality, and freedom.
Beyond iconic tracks like “Feeling Good”, “I Put a Spell on You”, and “Love Me or Leave Me”, Simone is also known for lesser-known masterpieces such as “I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel to Be Free”, “Do I Move You”, and “I Loves You Porgy”, works that showcase her emotional intensity and experimental artistry.
