From New York to Athens, acclaimed guitarist Benno Marmur brings the sound, spirit, and energy of the city’s vibrant jazz scene to THEATRE OF THE NO. The Benno Marmur Trio takes the stage on Saturday, September 19, for a special evening of contemporary jazz, bringing together the rich tradition of New York jazz and the vibrant creative scene of Athens.

Based in New York City, Benno Marmur has performed at some of the city’s most respected jazz venues, including Smalls, Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola at Jazz at Lincoln Center, The Iridium, Minton’s Playhouse in Harlem, as well as Nublu and Ornithology. He has also performed at jazz venues and festivals across the United States and Europe.

Throughout his career, Marmur has had the opportunity to perform with acclaimed jazz musicians including Grant Stewart, Vincent Herring, Jimmy Madison, Warren Chiasson, Clovis Nicolas, Erena Terakubo, Mark Whitfield, Fukushi Tainaka, Grant Green Jr., Eric Wheeler, Marcus McLaurine, the New York Voices, Chris Potter, and Bill Charlap with the WPUNJ Big Band, among others.

For his Athens performance, Marmur joins forces with two prominent Greek jazz musicians, Jason Wastor on drums and Kimon Karoutzos on bass. Together, they create a musical dialogue between New York and Athens, with improvisation, interaction and a contemporary jazz sensibility at the heart of the performance.

Marmur is signed to Cellar Live, while his playing has already attracted attention from established figures in the jazz world.
