Theatre of the NO welcomes French vibraphonist Jacques Marugg and his jazz ensemble, Deep Vibes Sextet, for a special evening of contemporary jazz. On Sunday, June 7th, at 20:30, audiences will have the opportunity to experience the live presentation of the group’s debut album, in a musical journey filled with rhythm, improvisation, and atmospheric melodies.

The program blends influences from 20th-century French classical music with elements of jazz and free jazz, creating a distinctive soundscape where lyricism meets improvisation. On stage alongside Jacques Marugg will be Anna Kapsouri on vocals, Leonidas Sarantopoulos on flute and tenor saxophone, Giannis Papanastasiou on alto and soprano saxophone, Chrysostomos Boukalis on double bass, and Nikos Siderokastritis on drums. Special guest Vironas Dolas will appear on guitar.

Born in Paris in 1958, Jacques Marugg has collaborated with renowned artists such as Alan Silva, Bobby Few, Mohamad Ali, Dominique Di Piazza, Glenn Ferris, Steve Potts, Olivier Hutman, and Tony Rabeson. His music draws inspiration from legends like John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Bill Evans, Debussy, Ravel, and Stravinsky, seamlessly combining structured compositions with the freedom of free jazz.
