MANOS SARIDAKIS TRIO

“From the Aegean to New Orleans”

THEATRE OF THE NO

Saturday, March 29th at 22:30

Theatre of the No, Athens’ first English-speaking theatre, hosts Manos Saridakis Trio with their musical project “From the Aegean to New Orleans.” A fascinating blend of Greek folk tradition with elements of jazz, rock, and blues. Join us for a unique evening on Saturday, March 29th, at 22:30.

Manos Saridakis, one of Greece’s most talented and acclaimed pianists, will present his own compositions, including “Herbie’s Dance,” “Blues for Eric,” “Titanology,” “The Greek Summertime,” and “Vospoporos” along with arrangements of beloved folk songs like “Kontoula Lemonia” and “Gianni Mou to Mantili Sou.”

His unique approach to improvisation captures the deep need of people to express their emotional burdens, ideals, pains, and joys through music. This music bridges the Aegean culture with the vibrant rhythms of New Orleans and jazz.

Manos Saridakis represented Greece in the 2006 «Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition», ranking among the top 25 jazz pianists under 30. He has collaborated with leading figures of the international jazz scene, such as David Liebman (Miles Davis), Ralph Peterson (Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers), Marc Johnson (Bill Evans), and Jack Walrath (Charles Mingus). Furthermore, he has performed at some of New York’s most prestigious jazz clubs, including Birdland and Blue Note.
