Theatre of the No, Athens’ first English-speaking theatre, presents a tribute to the legendary jazz musician John Coltrane performed by the acclaimed Gilad Atzmon Quartet. Join us on Saturday, March 22 at 22:30. Leading the ensemble is internationally renowned saxophonist Gilad Atzmon, who combines technical brilliance with a unique ability to capture the spirit and artistic legacy of Coltrane.
John Coltrane, an American composer and jazz saxophonist, is regarded as one of the greatest musicians of the 20th century. With his pioneering saxophone playing, he forever reshaped the sound of jazz. Along with Miles Davis, he remains one of the most influential and revolutionary figures in the history of jazz. His work transcended music, becoming a powerful voice for the Civil Rights Movement.
Gilad Atzmon’s album “The Spirit of Trane” (2016) received glowing reviews, with The Guardian calling it “a living re-imagining and deep tribute to the spirit of Coltrane” rather than a simple imitation of his style.
