Theatre of the NO welcomes The Doctor & The Bluesbothers on Thursday, October 15 at 21.00, a Blues–Rock band based in Mytilene, with a strong presence on the island’s music scene.
With a strong commitment to the authentic sound of Blues and electric Blues Rock, The Doctor & The Bluesbothers present a programme that spans different eras and expressions of the genre, from the great pioneers of Blues to the artists who shaped its more electric and rock-oriented side.
Their repertoire features Muddy Waters, B.B. King, Albert King and Albert Collins, alongside Eric Clapton, Rory Gallagher and Lynyrd Skynyrd, creating a programme rooted in the Blues, driven by rock energy and enriched by a strong improvisational character.
The band has already made its mark through its live performances in Mytilene, sharing the stage with Blues Wire, one of the most important and longest-standing bands in the Greek Blues scene, as well as with Tasos Skouras.
At the core of The Doctor & The Bluesbothers are George “The Doctor” Mavrogenis on electric, acoustic and slide guitars and harmonica, George Pavlakellis on bass and vocals, George Kollas on drums, Evangelia Giannakou on vocals, and Virginia Axioti on keyboards and vocals.
For The Doctor & The Bluesbothers, Blues is not simply a reference to the past. It is a living musical language that leaves room for improvisation, personal expression and interaction with the audience. Guided by authentic sound and the energy of a live Blues–Rock performance, the band comes to Theatre of the NO for an evening dedicated both to the roots and the enduring power of Blues.
