Theatre of The NO proudly presents A Tribute to Frank Sinatra on Thursday, 7 May at 21.30. Acclaimed vocalist Alexandros Affolter brings his celebrated project “Sinatra With A Twist” to the stage, offering a fresh, personal, and captivating homage to one of the 20th century’s most iconic voices.

This performance traces Alexandros’ lifelong connection to Frank Sinatra  a voice that shaped his musical imagination from an early age. Rather than recreating Sinatra’s sound, the quartet approaches the repertoire as living material: songs to be reinterpreted, reshaped, and rediscovered through the lens of contemporary jazz.

Together with Menios Gounaris on piano, Yiorgos Pantazopoulos on double bass, and Sera Bellos on drums, Alexandros explores both the timeless classics and the more intimate corners of Sinatra’s catalogue. Beloved standards such as I’ve Got You Under My Skin, Fly Me to the Moon, My Way, and New York, New York appear alongside deeper, emotionally charged selections like I’m a Fool to Want You, All My Tomorrows, One for My Baby, and Angel Eyes.

The result is an evening that balances swing, elegance, and heartfelt storytelling  a tribute that honors Sinatra’s legacy while allowing each musician’s voice to shine. The quartet’s interplay brings warmth, spontaneity, and a subtle modern twist to songs that have accompanied generations.

Short Bio

Alexandros Affolter was born in Amsterdam and trained in Acting, Jazz, and Musical Theater at the Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute in New York. Since 1994, he has been a dynamic presence on the European jazz scene, performing at renowned venues in Amsterdam, Vienna, London, and Athens, and appearing at major festivals including Loosdrecht Jazz Festival and Athens Muse Jazz Festival.

A versatile recording artist, Alexandros has contributed to projects with Greek and Dutch labels and has been recognized as a finalist in the 2013 Angela Carrington Awards (London). He is celebrated for his long-running tribute series Sinatra With a Twist and sold-out concerts honoring Tony Bennett, as well as collaborations with the Athens Big Band and leading Greek jazz artists. Currently, he performs in residence at To Treno Sto Rouf with Franky Meets Ella on the Orient Express, celebrating the music of Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald.
