The virtuoso percussionist Vangelis Karipis joins forces with Giorgos Kontogiannis (lyra, percussion) and Katerina Zisi (kanonaki), forming a trio focused on live creation and musical dialogue. This unique fusion of sounds, bridging tradition and contemporary musical explorations, will be hosted at Theatre of the NO on Thursday, April 23, at 21.00
With a long-standing presence in the Greek and international music scene, Karipis has been recognized for his ability to redefine the role of percussion, creatively merging diverse musical idioms. In this performance, his collaboration with two exceptional musicians expands this dialogue, highlighting both shared roots and the distinctive nuances of the music traditions of the Eastern Mediterranean and the Balkans.
The program revolves around improvisation while including reinterpretations from Greek and broader Eastern musical traditions. Through this process, the three musicians craft a multi-layered sonic landscape where rhythm and melody interact and complement each other naturally.
